Pineapple Whip

August 13, 2010

It’s really hot here.  Heat advisory hot.  We’ve actually had a heat advisory since mid morning yesterday and it’s in effect until late tonight.   You know, check the elderly, don’t go outside if you don’t have to heat advisory.  The temperatures have been in the high 90’s and with this midwest humidity it feels like it’s well into the 100’s.  No breeze.  You get the idea.

Because it’s so hot I had to make this pineapple whip.  The pineapple whip.  From The Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland.  They also serve this lovely treat at the Polynesian hotel.

We took Meeshie to Disney World a few years ago and fell in love with this treat.  I think it was one of the highlights of the trip.  It was a perfect treat for my husband.  When it’s hot and sticky his blood sugar dips and dips fast.  Something like this refreshes him and helps bring his sugar level back up.

I had just bought two pineapples the last time I went to the grocery store and knew that I wanted to make this with them.  You could substitute fresh pineapple with frozen but I wouldn’t suggest you use canned.

This recipe makes two generous servings!

Pineapple Whip

  • 2/3 C Pineapple Chunks, partially frozen
  • 1 C Vanilla Ice Cream
  • 1/2 C Pineapple Juice

Place all the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.  You may need to add or decrease the amount of juice/ice cream to get a smooth consistency.

Garnish with a few pieces of pineapple is optional.

Sip and/or spoon your treat and enjoy.

  1. Yummy! It has been ghastly hot here too. We are close to Lake Michigan which typically would give us a bit of a lake breeze…not so much the past few days. This drink will be a nice treat!

  2. “’ that seems to be a great topic, i really love it ;;-

Thanks for stopping by! I love hearing feedback!
